The new testing center is located at the junction of G ueishan and Linkou , covering over 1,300 square meters, is the first testing center combined large-scale energy storage battery testing and safety test of equipment in dangerous workplace in Taiwan. In addition to obtain U.S. Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) certification, also acquired the Taiwan TAF certification, can provide many international explosion safety certifications, including IECEx, ATEX and SCC of Canada.

Tang Jiade, general manager of UL Taiwan, said, Taiwan have outstanding performance in batteries, motors, switches, lamps and other manufacturing, recently transferred to more profitable markets, such as large-scale energy storage battery and proof equipment in hazardous areas, and therefore UL chosen Taiwan to set up this new Asia testing center, to introduce the latest testing technology and expertise.

Dr. Chen Chieh, chairman of Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF), said on the ceremony, Taiwan manufacturers have the ability to seize new blue ocean market with excellent R&D techniquet. We would like to see UL set up new large battery and hazloc equipment testing center in Taiwan, it will help Taiwan manufacturers to accelerate the pace of obtaining the relevant certification.

UL 's large battery testing laboratory provide testing and certification for large storage battery cell or module used by electric motor vehicles, smart grid and energy storage devices, to meet regulations of Europe , Japan and Taiwan, including IEC, UL, SAB-S 1101 , and CNS and so on. Besides, it is the only one testing center can perform at least 100 volt battery test, also can monitor the toxic gases and flammable gases of lithium Battery during the testing process.

UL also established Taiwan's first testing lab of mechanical and electrical equipment of hazardous workplace. From small lamps and switches to large industrial motors, generators, factory road lights and other big electrical equipments, all can be tested in UL’s lab safely, and obtain international explosion-proof certification. Test items include: explosions, sparks, static pressure, IP protection and temperature cycling.
