Xie Qing-Jiang expressed that, during the MediaTek’s Q1 Invest Conference on Wednesday, MediaTek will announce its first 20nm 4G LTE SoC chip as soon as the end of this year which means that the gap between MediaTek and Qualcomm in 4G LTE chip battle has diminished.

Last quarter TSMC began volume production of chips using 20nm process technology and it is adopted immediately by Qualcomm, the leading firm of making mobile phone chip, to introduce 20nm process technology into its 2 kinds of 64-bite LTE SOC, whose sample and the finished goods will be unveiled in the 2nd half of this year and 1st half of 2015 separately.

MediaTek is continuously striving to chase for Qualcomm these years. Early 2014 MediaTek has announced 2 kinds of 64-bite LTE SOC which will be expected to start volume production on September; moreover, the products using 20nm process technology are in hot pursuit as well.
