Xiaomi Announces Second Generation of Mi TV

TAIPEI, Taiwan-At a press conference on Thursday in Beijing, Xiaomi unveiled Mi TV2 using the 49-inch 4K display (resolution is 3840 x 2160) with 12.9kg weights , which is 30 percent less than its predecessor, 15.5mm thin, while the bezel is kept to a sensationally thin 6.2mm aluminum.

2nd-Gen Xiaomi TV is an Android-powered MIUI TV supporting to download videos not only by Xiaomi remote route but Airplay, DLNA, miracast streaming agreements. In addition, Xiaomi will also work with specific content companies to free updates 4K video.

Xiaomi Technology said that Mi TV2 adopts 4K panel providing by Huaxing power and LG offer, Radiant Opto-fold optical module, 4K image enhancement, pretty color, Zoning light-control technology and flaunt its repairable marks of image compression to make output of 4K display resolution more correspondingly and smoothly.

The Xiaomi Mi TV 2 is an Android-powered smart TV running on MStar 6A918 chipset with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.45GHz, Mali-45-MP4 GPU, H.265 10bit hardware decode, 2GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB eMMC internal storage expandable via a 64GB TF card slot and carries a Bluetooth technology, which is first adopted by Dolby Audio X2, to connect with other device.

As for TV remote, it has a low-efficiency Bluetooth LE remote and users can also install the remote app on smartphone to use gestures and voice to control the TV.

The price tag for this new 4K TV is ¥$ 3,999.
