TAIPEI, Taiwan — TSMC is going to hold stockholders meeting on June 24, the annual report has been shown. It predicts that the global semiconductor market annual growth rate will merely be three to five percent, and the growth of TSMC will surpass global semiconductor industry notably. However, in the advanced processes, TSMC will put its 10nm process into pilot run, planning to be under mass production in 2016.

Morris Chang, Chairman of TSMC, he pointed out in the annual report for the stockholders that during the past 27 years' development of TSMC, its sales growth has been higher than the overall semiconductor market for 25 years. It is read that TSMC has made record high in revenue and profit in 2013, and in 2010 TSMC observed that smartphone, tablet, and mobile device would be the growth drivers of the semiconductor industry so that it invested a lot of money in research and design. Now that it has proven the desicion is correct.

In the advanced processes, Morris Chang said that chips design firms adopted TSMC 28nm process in search of better performance, low-power consumption, and smaller size chips to manufacture a more compact mobile devices. TSMC's shipment and revenue of 28nm chips has grown three times in 2013, and occupied 80 percent of the market share.

To continue the success of 28nm process, TSMC's 20nm system on chips started accepting orders from customers, and is under mass production in this year. It forcasts that since 20nm is faster to be under mass production than 28nm, 20nm will be the growth driver of TSMC in 2014 and 2015.

Concerning about the 16FinFET, which is more advanced than 20nm, it has been put into pilot run in late 2013, and passed test process in 2014. 16FinFET will be under mass production in 2015, and it has 20 projects from different customers, going through many application fields. TSMC also developed 16FinFET+, which is fifteen percent better performance than 16FinFET.

Last but not least, on the annual report TSMC firstly stated out the roadmap of its 10nm process. Morris Chang said that TSMC started developing 10nm process in 2013, and will put 10nm into pilot run in 2015, and it will be under mass production in 2016. 10nm can be viewed as the third generation of FinFET process, its performance and density will be the leader in the field. TSMC has already engaged in developing 7nm process.

Morris Chang added that TSMC is going to shorten the time to market of their customers.
