Taiwan has been the leader in the touch panel industry for a long time, however, these two years facing challenges from China, Korea, and Japan. It is better to cooperate with your enemies than fighting. Komori is not only a big printing company in Japan, but also an international well-known security printing company in printing money notes.

Tsutomu Niitsuma, Managing Director of Komori stated “in January 2013, Komori and ITRI entered into a joint-development contract to develop gravure offset printing systems and continue to work together still now.

This joint project has attracted much attention in Taiwan, Japan, and Asia.”

“ This Mass-production of touch panel by gravure offset printing technology requires optimization of equipment, printing materials and printing plate, and Komori has organization which can support the systems totally by cooperation with material suppliers, research bodies and so forth. ” said Tsutomu Niitsuma.

“Also, Komori announced to acquire 100 percent shares of Tokai Holdings which brand name is SERIA in PE industry, and Tokai became a subsidiary of Komori on May , 2014. Since then, Komori is unifying Tokai's screen printing business and Komori's gravure offset printing business to extend PE business. Komori offers a total solution by uniting the technology and the sales channel which both companies have.” added Tsutomu Niitsuma.

Schlors from ITRI also said that from handset, tablet, to laptop, Taiwan touch panel market has been increased 15 percent year on year, but in this touch panel competition with rivals from all over the world, it has got to be innovation and innovation so that ITRI works with Komori.

Jupiter Hu, the Flexible Electronics Division Director at Electronics an Optoelectronics Research Laboratories of ITRI said that the R2R metal mesh can replace ITO especially in manufacturing 11.6-inch tablet or in any other application, which reduces one third of the cost. Its minimum line width is 5um with great transparency and printing quality, and for it's one-step feature that means it can be put into mass production in short time.

Moreover, the production of the R2R metal mesh and ITO is also measured in this technology competition. “One machine that making R2R metal mesh can replace seven machines that making ITO.” Emphasized by Jupiter Hu.

Come and experience the R2R metal mesh on your own, it will be shown on the Touch Taiwan exhibition in Nangang Exhibition Hall on August 27th to 29th at the ITRI booth K1203
