HTC Unveils Desire 820 Right Before IFA 2014

TAIPEI, Taiwan — HTC has announced the latest addition to its mid-tier Desire family, the Desire 820 right before the IFA 2014 in Berlin, which is a succesor of Desire 816 that was launched earlier in the year. HTC Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Chang Chia-lin explained in detailed that their cooperation with processor providers, which emphasized they will choose the proper processors subjecting to each handset, MediaTek and Intel are still their partners.

“Though lots of HTC handsets are powered by Qualcomm, the lastest Desire 820 is no exception using the world first 64-bit octa-core processor Snapdragon 615, but it doesn't mean that HTC is not going to use processors from MediaTek or Intel, sujecting to product positioning,” said Chang Chia-lin.

Desire 820 maintains the same 5.5-inch display size and 720p resolution, while cranking the processor up to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 — an octa-core chip with cores at 1.5GHz and 1.0GHz. On top of that there's 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, both increased from the Desire 816.

Other notables include a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 lens, a whopping 8-megapixel front-facing camera and 2,600mAh battery.
