Famous tech leakster @upleaks on Twitter hinted at the launch of a new phablet from HTC will carry a similar set of specifications as the Desire 816 by posting “HTC is going to release MTK (MediaTek) octa-core powered phablet, hardware spec is almost the same as Desire 816 except chipset and RAM.”

The leakster @upleaks only twitted that the coming HTC phablet will be powered by a different processor and RAM, it doesn't go into the details about the RAM, so it could be more or less than the Desire 816 which boasts 1.5GB. As for processor, it will come with a MediaTek octa-core unit instead of Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC.

So, basically, the leakster is talking about the smartphone which comes with a 5.5-inch HD display. Other expected specs include: 8GB internal storage, which can be further expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. On the imaging front, the phablet might sport a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with ability to record videos in 1080p video and a 5-megapixel front facing camera.

As said by the leakster, the differences between the two would be in processor and RAM field. The new device is speculated to come powered by a MediaTek octa-core processor, possibly the MT6595.

HTC hasn't commented on rumors regarding its new phablet.
