“I do care about TSMC a great deal, that's why I came back five years ago. So that's part of my succession issue. I want to pass it on to somebody who also cares.” said Morris Chang, based on Wall Street Journal.

In the next-generation chip process technology, it's a neck-to-neck war between TSMC, Intel, and Samsung. Intel said devices using its 14-nanometer chips will be available in October, while Samsung planned to mass produce chips on the same technology by the end of this year.

Morris Chang also shared his views on the next-generation chip process technology in the report, “TSMC would lose some orders to Samsung next year because of the lag, but we hope to recoup some of the lost businesses in 2016,” he said, noting that TSMC plans to deliver a prototype 10-nanometer chip based on ARM Holdings PLC's design in the fourth quarter of next year.

“This is a war. I am not leaving anything to chance,” Mr. Chang, who founded the company in 1987, said determinedly in an interview with Wall Street Journal.

Besides, TSMC will hold its 2014 third quarter earnings conference on Thursday. TSMC will forecast its performance in fourth quarter along with the mass production of 16-nanometer chips. It's remain unknown that Morris Chang will show up or not.
