MediaTek Sees 4G Cell Phones As the Growing Momentum in 2015

TAIPEI, Taiwan - MediaTek held investor conference yesterday and announced 2014 financial results. MediaTek said at the meeting that they were optimistic about the chips shipments of smart phones, 4G cell phones and tablets this year, which will be higher than last year.

The 2014 financial results of MediaTek was reported that revenues of NT $ 213 billion, a growth of 56.6 percent, a record high; after-tax net profit of NT $ 46.3 billion, a growth of 68.8 percent, hits another historical high.

MediaTek estimated in the meeting that smartphone chip shipments will exceed 450 million in 2015, 150 million LTE chipsets in which. The octa-core LTE chips will be mass production in the first quarter of this year,and the MT6753, a mid/high-level CDMA chip will be available in the second quarter of this year.

In addition, MediaTek announced yesterday that they will spend NT$ 1.12 billion to acquire a land right near Hsinchu High Speed Rail Station, for buliding a new office building.

MediaTek said, because of the increasing numbers of employee, they decided to expand the area of office by setting up a new building in Zhubei, which is a long-term response to operational requirements.
