Two weeks ago, the expansion plan of TSMC Taichung fab has approved by Taiwan EPA. To express gratitude, Wang Jianguang, deputy general manager of TSMC, paid a visit to the Diretor of CTSP Wang Zhuangt, and said the expansion project will start in May this year.

Wang Jianguang said that TSMC is going to set up three fab in Taichung, P5 to P7, in which is expected to put into operation with 10 nanometer process in 2017, then next year will be 8-nanometer process. In 2018, the three fab will go full capacity of 90,000 pices.

Wang Jianguang also pointed that Taichung 12-inch fab will be mainly in 10 nm and 8 nm process, and the proportion of 8nm will increase in the future, the ratio of 10 nm and 8 nm will amount to 3: 7.

The total investment of Taichung fab amounted to about NT$ 7,00 billion, of which the R&D center and experimental production line in Hsinchu accounted forNT$150 billion, Taichung expansion accounting for NT$5,50 billion. And the Taichung fab estimated annual output value of NT$300 billion, and increase more than 5,000 new jobs.
