Taiwan OEM Firm Compal Revises Down NB shipments of 6%

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Compal Group today held shareholders meeting , Compal general manager Ray Chen said that the global notebook shipments will decline 4% to 6%, which original be forecasted to decline 3%; Tablet PC shipments expected to decline 1% of the original forecast, expanded to decline 10 % to 15%.

Chen pointed out, this year, the demand of global NB this year is going to glissade due to the weak sales in Europe and China, and the deferred consumption caused by Win10. The market demand will be postponed to August and September.

While the overall market is weak, but the revenue and profit of Compal this year will grow also. The non- notebook revenue of Compal last year had increased 23%, this year will move towards 30%.

Outlooks to second half of this year, Compal said that the second half is very uncertain, with the continued changes in the industrial economy and the political system, the overall market is still very complicated, but there is still considerable variation in growth.

In addition, Chen also predicted that there will be a large-scale merger take place in brands and OEMs industry. He took NB brands for example, the number of NB brands lessened to 5 and 6 from the dozens, the top three will continue to increase market share.
