Wistron Receives Apple’s Advanced Keyboard SMT Orders

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Wistron Co. has become the third iPhone assembler, officially assembled iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6S since August. Forthermore, it is widely circulated that the company teamed up with Apple in delivering the advanced keyboard SMT, successfully become part of Apple’s keyboard supply chain.

Wistron successfully penerated into Apple’s supply chain, officially assembled iPhone 5C. After one year of struggling, the company received the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus assembling orders. However, the iPhone 5C orders have declined month by month with the view that the company is doing their best to become part of the iPhone 6S Plus assembling supply chain.

The production line of Wistron will expand to six from three in 2016, which is doubled in capacity. Therefore, Getting orders of iPhone 6S Plus is their goal.

In addition, Wistron saw the profits start to pile up after receiving LCM panel ODM/OEM orders from the Japanese display provider JDI.

However, Wistron invested $65.3 million in expanding its production plant, it is believed that is for developing the latest advanced keyboard with Apple. The company is responsible for manufacturing part of the keyboard’s SMT manufacturing process. In other words, the company will be Apple’s keyboard supply chain.

Last but not least, Wistron held a Board meeting on August. During the meeting the Board approved a share buyback proposal for maximum 80 million common shares effective from August 27 to October 26 2015 for future employee incentive program.
