TSMC to Hold Annual Supply Chain Management Forum on Thu

TAIPEI, Taiwan — TSMC will hold its 15th annual Supply Chain Management forum to show appreciation for the support and contributions of its suppliers in 2015, and hundreds of suppliers around the world in the fields of equipment, materials, packaging, testing, facilities, IT systems and services, and environmental and waste management services participated in the forum.

TSMC Co-Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mark Liu is going to give a speech regarding prosperity of 2016 at the annual event.

It is believed that TSMC will take all Apple’s new smartphone A10 processors by InFo WLP. And the “killer” particle size has reached 10nm for the most advanced semiconductor processes, which will be put into pilot production in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Furthermore, 10nm is planned to put into mass production in the first quarter of 2017. 7nm is also in full preparation.

Meanwhile, the company said it has sold a 6 percent stake in local solar cell maker Motech Industries Inc. for NT$1.2 billion. TSMC books a gain of NT$202 million from the deal, the company said in a filing submitted to the Taiwan Stock Exchange Co. After the sale, the chipmaker still owns 12 percent of the solar cell maker, according to the filing. TSMC plans to gradually sell all of its stake in Motech.
