Nevetheless, HTC will cooperate with Audi in a bid to foster the VR platform for smartphone and AR businesses, “We hope that smartphone and VR device will occupy half of our revenue respectively in the future.”
The HTC Vive Unbound Developers Conference begins on Thursday, the length of people waiting in Beijing International Convention Center and packed the 12 experience rooms.
“The Vive is like what we do in 18 years ago to launch the HTC smartphone, I’m very excited that a Taiwan company can top all the other tech companies worldwide in terms of technologies.” Cher Wang remarked.
Statistics show that AR/VR will account for a $150 billion market by 2020, and $1 billion has poured into various AR/VR projects in the past four quarters. And it can be categorized into high-end PC, gaming console and smartphone connected device. For example, HTC and Oculus are mainly for PC connected platform, Sony is good at gaming console and Samsung pins hope on smartphone platform.
The HTC Vive covered in sensors—there are over 70—allowing for full 3D room tracking. HTC calls this a “Full Room Scale 360 Degree Solution with Tracked Controllers,” that allows exploring objects from all angles and look up and down.
The Vive will be available in Audi flagship stores in 2016, as well as in many fashion shops. Cher Wang said.
Moreover, the device will be able to start accepting pre-orders on February 2016, and will be officially launched on April 2016.
Meanwhile, the HTC Vive begins demonstrating in Taiwan on December 15 to January 3 at booth R407 in the Syntrend Creative Park, from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Along with six games available. Namely, Apecture Robot Repair, Arizona Sunshine, Job Simulator Office, Secret Shop, The Blue and Tilt Brush.
