3D Dream Workshop Announces The World’s First "DO IT YOURSELF" Laser SLA 3D Printer

Published: Apr 15,2016

The first one in the world laser SLA (Stereo Lithography Apparatus) 3D printer, which is assembled by users, is introduced by 3D Dream Workshop of Taiwan.

This printer can also use most of SLA Resins in the market to print. In addition, users can mix pigments with our No. 1 resin into many different colors, and produce colorful objects. The sell price of this printer is set for 1200 US dollars. With this very friendly price and have multiple choices of supplies, this printer is going to push SLA 3d printing technology much closer toward consumer market.

The keys, in SLA 3d printing technology, are the energy of the light, the time that resin expose under the light and the formula of the resin. Every Laser SLA 3d printer in the market does not allow customers to adjust light energy, and most of the printer cannot even adjust exposure time. Therefore, only the original equipment manufacture’s resin can be used for its printers, and no other SLA resin in the market can print.

3D Dream Workshop developed unique Adjustable Laser Energy (ALE) and Adjustable Exposure Time (AET) technologies. These allow operators to change the laser energy (laser energy is set between 0 to 100 mW) while resin is solidify. Moreover, users can set time for how long the laser light pause at each point (between 5 to 45 µs). With these new technologies, FunPlay breaks the resins monopoly from its own manufacture. Return the right of choosing their own SLA resins back to consumer.

The advantages of SLA 3d Printing are the detail of its products and the smoothness of the surface. On the other hand, the expensive printer and high cost of printing supply of "Optical Resin", keep SLA 3D printing technology away from public.

"When we released laser power and exposure time, the key factors for high quality SLA 3d printing, for users to change, we are returning the right of choosing optical resin back to our consumers." As Enzo Lee, the General Manager of 3D Dream Workshop, points out. "So they can choose a resin with the right price and the right printing quality."

For the cost, 3D Dream Workshop is announcing its first and the most price friendly product, the "FunPlay-DIY-Crystal". The price is set for USD 1200. It will campaigned on Indiegogo, a worldwide funding web site, in April.
