"And we found, aside from ongoing global economic uncertainties, one of the major causes of it was the lack of the sight of massive replacement demand expected to come from Windows 10 and Skylake CPUs," says Jessica Hsu, senior analyst with MIC.

"Despite several positive factors, the pressure of 2-in-1 tablets on traditional notebook PCs is getting worse and is going to affect the market's performance this year."

"By panel size, 14" and 15" notebook PCs remained the mainstream in 2015, accounting for over 70%. Meanwhile, 13" and 11" models have been benefited by massive commercialization and Chromebook launch," says Hsu.

"Though the combined share of 14" and 15" models is likely to remain the highest, it is expected to drop under 70% in the first half of 2016. This owes largely in part to the growing demand from middle-upper range of consumers who look for lightweight and compact models which often come with a 12" or 13" panel."
