Candidates must be sponsored by an SPE Division or Special Interest Group and elected by the Fellows Election Committee on the basis of their professional record as well as written sponsorships from at least two SPE members. As of 2016, only 319 members have been awarded this prestigious title since it was introduced in 1984.
Several accomplishments led Dr. Chang to this honorable award. He has spent more than 30 years in the research and education of rheology and polymer processing in the Department of Chemical Engineering in Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. He and his partners founded CoreTech System to serve customers with Moldex3D series products since 1995. One of his greatest achievements is the commercialization of the academic research into CAE software, Moldex3D. To this day, the software has been widely used across a variety of industries by more than 2,500 users globally to aid the design and manufacture of plastic products.
Dr. Chang appreciates the support of his team who has worked with him over the past two decades and onward. “I’m truly honored to receive this extraordinary recognition by SPE, and I couldn’t have achieved this without the support of my team,” said Dr. Chang. “It has always been and will always be our mission to put emphasis on furthering the studies and researches in the field of plastics engineering, and more importantly, develop a powerful and up-to-date CAE technology that truly brings tangible values to the design and manufacture of plastic products with the backbone-support of the practical scientific theories and rheological researches.”
Dr. Chang will attend the SPE’s 74th Annual Technical Conference (ANTEC 2016) this year, and receive his SPE Fellow honorable recognition in a special Celebration Banquet on May 22, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN, USA.
