Transcend Strengthens SSD Sales, Revenue Ratio to Exceed 20%

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan memory manufacturer Transcend stated that because DRAM companies are continuing to reduce their production capacities, in the third quarter of this year the oversupply situation is expected to slow down and prices to rebound. Therefore, they will adjust procurement and inventory in response to market changes.

Transcend yesterday announced their revenue for the month of May, which totaled NT$1.73 billion, which was a reduction of 1.2% for the month and 11.9% for the year. SSDs are Transcend’s current market focus and have already reached 16% of the company’s overall revenue.

Transcend pointed out that from the standpoint of their product revenue structure, controller products accounted for NT$597 million with a revenue proportion of 34.5%; strategic products accounted for NT$341 million with a revenue proportion of 19.7%; consumer Flash products accounted for NT$597 million with a revenue proportion of 34.5%; and standard DRAM products accounted for NT$195 million with a revenue proportion of 11.3%.

Transcend stated that the access shipment situation for April and May was generally flat. Furthermore, SSDs are the current marketing focus with a stable sales proportion which has already reached 16% of the company’s overall revenue.

In addition, as TLD standard SSDs gradually become a mainstream market, Transcend will launch the SSD220, which uses TLC Flash memory, and expand the SSD market. They expect that the revenue proportion of SSD products will exceed 20% of all products.
