MediaTek to Increase the Number of Employees in India to 1500

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan-based fabless semiconductor company MediaTek is going to increase its number of employees in India to 1,500 in the next three years, which is a growth of 200%, and the local financial investment will also expand simultaneously.

Ming-Kai Tsai, Chairman & CEO of MediaTek, said at the “Investor Roundtable: Experience Sharing & Success Stories in Indian Electronics Sector” which was held by FICCI, the largest and oldest apex business organisation in India, that MediaTek has invested US$350 million in India, and also invested about US$100 million in local semiconductor, Internet of Things, FinTech, and employed more than 500 local employees. In the next three years, the company will increase the number of local workforce to 1,500.

He stressed that MediaTek will continue to work with Indian brands, ODM partners in India, and cooperation with international brands to build an ecosystems of India, to lift its brand market share in Indian from 35% to 70%.

Currently, Micromax, the India's largest mobile phone company, has adopted MediaTek's processor chip, the company's CEO had said that MediaTek is an important partner of Micromax.
