Apple to Establish R&D Center in Shenzhen, China

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that Apple will in Shenzhen, China establish its second research and development center in Mainland China and also increase their local sales outlets. At the same time, the company responsible for Apple iPhone assembly, Hon Hai, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Shenzhen City Government to further deepen their investment in Shenzhen.

According to local media in Mainland China, Tim Cook arrived in Shenzhen on the evening of the 11th because he had been invited to participate in an international event. However, after Tim Cook arrived in Shenzhen, he immediately had an official meeting with the Shenzhen City Mayor where he was also accompanied by Hon Hai CEO Terry Guo.

The media reports pointed out that Tim Cook believes that the workers' standard of production in Shenzhen is the best in the world, and therefore, Apple has decided to establish an R&D center in Shenzhen.

Terry Guo also announced that they will continue to invest in Shenzhen, and anticipates that the opening up of manufacturing technology under the banner of Hon Hai and Foxconn will assist start-ups in the creation of world-class projects.
