Adding to the current portfolio comprising of the professional and location-based entertain-ment StarVR developed jointly with Starbreeze, Acer is now able to provide a comprehensive VR offering for all kinds of customers, ranging from top-of-the-line, cinema grade HMDs, ex-tending to accessible headsets enabled by the Windows Holographic Platform, and VR-Ready PCs and platforms to power them all.
The new headsets are expected to ship in the first quarter, and prices will start at $299. The new HMD will work with affordable laptops and PCs and is designed to enable progressive computing experiences and accelerate the adoption of new and intuitive ways to interact with the world.
The lightweight HMDs include a built-in camera for mixed reality applications, and supports high resolutions of up to 1440x1440 for each eye, with built-in sensors capable of inside-out, six-degrees of freedom (DoF) positional tracking for simplified set-up and to allow users to move more freely around while using the device.
