Global Motherboard Shipment Decline to Slow Down in 2017, MIC Says

Global motherboard shipment volume is forecast to reach 107.7 million units in 2016, according to MIC (Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute), a Taipei-based research institute.

"Although a majority of motherboard makers were struggling with their inventory levels in 2016, the new graphics card launch had succeeded in creating higher demand for mid- and high-end motherboards in second quarter of 2016," says Claire Lin, industry analyst with MIC.

"As the gaming motherboards only target niche markets, it made only a limited contribution to the motherboard industry's shipments as a whole in 2016." Lin said.
