Specializing in AI and deep learning, the NVIDIA DGX-1 supercomputer is equipped with 8 Tesla V100 GPUs, and with a computing performance of up to 96 times that of CPU-driven servers, the platform supports a range of optimized AI software. Furthermore, the platform’s plug and play deployment facilitates the acceleration of development of various projects; therefore, it has become the optimal tool for implementing AI applications.
NVIDIA VP Sales and Country GM Taiwan Eunice Chiu stated, “NVIDIA’s technological innovation is continuing to lead data scientists to break through research boundaries, while academic research is an important cornerstone for AI applications in a variety of domains. NVIDIA’s powerful hardware solutions and complete software configurations have enabled NCKU to have sufficient computing power to support a wide variety of research; moreover, it can be expanded to meet growing demand. In the future, NVIDIA will continue to invest in the creation of a complete ecosystem for collaborations between industry and academia.”
NCKU hosts the widest range of academic research projects in Taiwan with content ranging from aerospace science to land agricultural technology and ocean research. In response to increasingly complex AI operations, NCKU is actively investing in the construction of infrastructure in order to create the highest quality research environment for promoting applications such as smart healthcare, smart manufacturing, and smart driving. Furthermore, the university has opted to enhance their computing power with NVIDIA solutions in order to inject strong research momentum into their vast multi-disciplinary research program.
NCKU President Huey-Jen Jenny Su stated, “AI research should focus on cross-disciplinary and cross-talent integration and should not be merely focused on single projects. This is why NCKU needs a solid and powerful infrastructure to satisfy a variety of research requirements. In consideration of a wide range of considerations such as historical computing requirements, ease of integration, scalability, cost performance, and power efficiency, NCKU has selected the NVIDIA DGX-1 system in order to fully develop synergy and facilitate more research breakthroughs which will enable Taiwan to maintain international competitiveness.”
