The device is suitable for applications such as Mouse, Keyboards, Gamepads, TV game peripherals, USB download type remote controllers, USB Keys, wired or wireless computer peripherals as well as a host of other consumer product applications. The device would be especially suitable for carbon membrane keyboard applications, where it can easily accept the high carbon membrane resistance associated with these products, without the need for additional passive components.

The HT68FB240 is compatible with the USB 2.0 specification and has an operating voltage of 2.2V to 5.5V, an operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C thus meeting with industrial specifications. The system clock is derived from a fully internal high speed RC oscillator circuit with a 12MHz oscillation frequency accuracy of up to ±1.5% for USB operation.

Using this patented clock technology, the USB function requires no external components. The device range has a Program Memory capacity of 4Kx16 and up to 160 bytes of Data Memory RAM. It includes a Low Speed USB interface with up to 3 USB endpoints as well as 34 bidirectional I/Os, 2 Timer Modules with PWM outputs, an SPI interface, an I²C slave and an internal regulator with an output of 3.3V. The device is supplied in 46-pin QFN and 48-pin LQFP package types.

Holtek has also provided the device with a new ISP online firmware update function. The firmware can be easily updated via the USB interface using the I3000 Writer (Windows®-based). Holtek also provides a DLL for user development.

Holtek also supplies a full suite of excellent hardware and software development tools known as the HT-IDE3000 (Windows-based), which include a hardware In-Circuit Emulator with full trace analysis features as well as many other functions. Used together with the OCDS debug interface, Holtek also provides a range of application guides to ensure developers have their designs up and running in the shortest time possible.
