ADI’s SHARC 214xx family of processors can now enable Dolby’s latest cinema audio surround processing technology to be implemented in AVR systems for the home theater market. Analog Devices’ certified SHARC implementation provides confidence to OEMs' that the Dolby Atmos DSP solution meets Dolby's implementation requirements.

Dolby Atmos delivers captivating, multidimensional sound that places and moves specific sound anywhere in the room, including overhead, to bring entertainment alive all around the audience.

Since its introduction in the cinema in 2012, Dolby Atmos has been embraced by all the major Hollywood studios, seven Academy Award winning directors, and 16 Academy Award-winning sound mixers, among others. Now Dolby’s Atmos cinematic experience can be enjoyed in consumer home audio products that utilize SHARC processors.

"Dolby’s certification of Analog Devices' SHARC processors means that we can go to market with the assurance that our Dolby Atmos system properly implements this exciting new surround technology,”said Yoshinori Yamada, global business team leader, Audio and Video, D+M Group.

“Our customers can now enjoy Dolby Atmos in their homes experiencing the best in audio with Denon and Marantz products."

SHARC processors featuring Dolby Atmos decoding are now available for early adopters of Dolby-licensed home theater systems and will be broadly available soon. ADI’s Dolby Atmos implementation is supported by the Melody AVR 5 development platform and SDK.
