The BC68FB540 is compatible with the USB 2.0 specification and has an operating voltage of 2.2V to 5.5V, and with an operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C it meets with industrial specifications. The RF circuitry derives its system clock from an externally connected 16 MHz crystal while the MCU system clock is derived from a fully internal 12 MHz HIRC oscillator.

The device range has a Program Memory capacity of 4Kx16 and 256 bytes of Data Memory RAM. It includes a Full Speed USB interface with up to 4 USB endpoints as well as 9 bidirectional I/Os, 4 Timer Modules with PWM outputs, an SPI interface, a Watchdog Timer and a Low Voltage Detect function.

In addition, it also contains an internal regulator with an output of 3.3V which can be used by the RF circuitry and other peripheral functions. The device is supplied in a 46-pin QFN package type. This extremely small package outline makes it especially suitable for 2.4GHz small outline wireless product applications.

Holtek has also provided the device with a new ISP online firmware update function. The firmware can be easily updated via the USB interface using the I3000 Writer (Windows®-based). Holtek also provides a DLL for user development. The device also supports ICP, ISP and IAP modes and an online update function which can withstand up to a million times rewrite cycles. The device is suitable for applications such as Wireless Mouse, Wireless Keyboards, Presentation Remotes and other wireless computer peripheral and household appliance applications.

Holtek also supplies a full suite of excellent hardware and software development tools. Known as the HT-IDE3000 (Windows®-based), it includes a hardware In-Circuit Emulator with full trace analysis features as well as many other functions and is used together with the OCDS debug interface. Holtek also offers a range of application guides to ensure developers have their designs up and running in the shortest time possible.
