The device integrates an internal 650V high voltage power transistor with a low 4.3Ω on resistance, thus reducing the demand for external components to meet the requirements for constant current characteristics. The system output power can be up to 13.8W@240mA, 90~265VAC and 21.8W@365mA, 180~265VAC.

With its high output current accuracy of ±3% and high power factor values exceeding 0.9, this new device also possesses the advantages of ambient temperature change insensitivity as well as having easy to setup system parameters. Its Primary-Side Feedback Flyback function can control LED current values accurately to ensure the system is able to maintain a stable LED output current even under conditions of wide input voltage variations and varying number of LED outputs.

By operating in the boundary conduction mode with its high power factor characteristic, the device can operate with minimum system switching losses thus offering enhanced EMI characteristics. Its ultra-low start-up current of 10µA and low operating current also helps to improve system efficiency. Several protection functions are also included such as Output Short Protection, Cycle by Cycle Current Limit, Output Over Voltage Protection, Over Voltage and Over Temperature protection to ensure safe and reliable operation.

With regard to packaging the device is supplied in an 8-pin DIP package. The above mentioned features combine to provide ideal solutions for high efficiency and low cost power conversion applications.
