Inventec: Cloud, Solar,Social Responsibility in 2014

TAIPEI, TAIWAN — The Taiwan-based ODM Inventec Co. held a year-end party on Tuesday and the company chairman Richard Lee said that there are 5 goals to reach in 2014, the most important of which are CSSR that referring to cloud computing, solar energy business, and social responsibility.

“Thanks to Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.” exclaimed by Richard Lee showing the company's greatitude to its clients.

To invest more money in solar energy, server business, to recruit 1,000 more employees, the asset revitalization, and to better gross profit margin are 5 goals in 2014 Lee added.

According to Inventec, the 3D printer ODM orders will be shipped by the end of second quarter. It also aims to develop non-Wintel platform for wearables, but the company refused to answer if received iWatch orders or not.

Inventec will invest more money in solar energy business. Inventecsolar, Inventec Energy, and E-Ton Solar Tech. Co. are three solar energy businesses that mostly covered PV module and solar cell manufacturing, and approximately occupied 5 percent of Inventec revenue. Lee indicated that structural integration of these three companies is needed.

Lee also said that cloud computing and server businesses are driving force of Inventec and they are improving its server design, purchase, and manufacture in order to maintain its ODM global status.

The Inventec's consolidated revenue edged up 12.2 percent among the best of five major Taiwan-based ODMs, to NT$461 billion (US$15.4 billion) last year from the year before, which also shown that 65 percent coming from notebooks, tablets and all-in-one PCs, 20 percent from servers, 10 percent from smartphones and other handheld devices, and 5 percent from PV products.
