Although bendable feature still a highlight of OLED for curved TV panel, but AUO uses conventional thin film transistor liquid crystal display panels (TFT-LCD) manufacturing process to produce the curved display panel successfully, so does mass production and shipments, that will affect the progress of the development of large-size OLED panels.
Currently AUO curved TV panel has successfully shipped to Sony , AUO general manager Paul Peng, said AUO curved technology can be used in the 42” and all above size of TV panels, and even Ultra-High Definition (4K2K) panel, but will focus on 50” product right now.
Paul Peng stressed that the new curved panel will be available in March or April, being the May Day Holiday to meet the market demand in China, and the curved, 4K2K, full color gamut panel will catch people’s eye.
In 2014, AUO will fully develop on his high-resolution products, produce numerous UHD, wide color gamut, large size, curved and narrow border products, where 4K TV will be launched towards all sizes , but the 50” will be mainstream.
In addition, AUO’s curved LCD will be combined with 4K technology, emphasize on the non-OLED bendable panel technology. Compared with competitors of bendable OLED TV, AUO will delay the growth of OLED in the TV market by new bendable technology.
Beside the TV panels, AUO will also enhance the car display panel product by high-definition and wide viewing angle technology. Its 12.3” car dashboard pane is currently the largest car dashboard and highest resolution of the product, the resolution increased to 1920x720; high-end smart devices will also be large and ultra-high resolution.
Except selling panel, AUO has gradually turned to provide integrate systems solutions, not only hardware, but also includes software and integration systems, has been used in a McDonald's drive-thru ordering system.
Additionally, AUO also enter the medical, its X-ray products will be launched this year.
