Guo said:“the earth like a boat floating on the ocean alone, no rescue near, so, never ever let it sinked.”
Guo zhao-Lin aged 42, a master of Physics of NTU, Physics , and in 2003 obtained a doctorate in physics at UC Berkeley astronomy, then to do research in California Institute of Technology Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). In 2008, he entered Stanford University as an assistant professor at the Department of Physics and SLAC Accelerator Center.
Guo Zhao-lin backed to Taiwan as a visiting scholar in NTU from April to June this year. He had a speech at NTU on Wednesday, the lecture hall packed audience, also be webcast.
Guo said that scientific community took forty years to accept the existence of gravitational waves which proposed by Einstein, but Einstein had once overthrown it, and finally admits , " I do not know in the end it exists or not ."
Until 1957, Feynman convinced the majority of physicists to believe gravity waves exist by thought experiment, this major discovery was to detect gravitational waves in the Antarctic, confirmed inflationary theory .
Guo said his research applied to many of the concepts learned in college, for example, applied mathematics that learned in sophomore had been used in research, even physical, electrical and mathematical to be used in. In addition, language ability is very important, scientists should be able to clearly explain what they are doing.
" What kind of person you are which is chosen by you ," said Guo
He encouraged the students that“you are what you want to be, not your ability.”
He laughed and said, it sounded like Camus’s saying, but actually from Dumbledore, a magic school principal in Harry Potter.
