TAIPEI, Taiwan- Intel announced the strategic cooperation relationship with Rockchip, China-based chip manufacture, to jointly develop tablet’s CPU and chip. Researchers say that this strategic agreement will trigger off a price war of China’s tablet chip and bring pressure for MediaTek.

According to researcher, the main objective of this cooperation between Intel and Rockchip is not only to consolidate Chinese market share but directly against the biggest competitor MediaTek.
Rockchip will gain 3G technology through this partnership to adopt 3G communication function in tablet’s chip. From Intel’s point of view, the agreement with Rockchip will speed up the localization development to increase its market influences in China. Nevertheless, MediaTek will be the main competitor for their new product market.
