Realtek Opens Subsidiary in Singapore, Focusing on IoTand Smart Home Applications

HSINCHU, Taiwan – Realtek Singapore, opening this month with an initial capital of 30 million US dollars, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Realtek Semiconductor Corporation (Realtek) headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

In recent years Realtek has been accelerating its global deployment and expanding the range of its product applications. In addition to the personal computer and network communication fields, Realtek has branched out into premium 4K2K UHD smart TVs, tablets, and smartphones. Now Realtek has its eyes on the upcoming Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home applications.

The Singapore government has been very aggressive in setting up policies, coupled with its strategic geographic position, that attract global talents and investments to form an amicable ecosystem for the communication industry. Realtek Singapore has been established as a confluence of the two visions.

Realtek expect Realtek Singapore to attract top R&D talents in Singapore and the greater Southeast Asia in software design, hardware design, and digital IC design. Such talents, alongside Realtek’s established expertise in wireless technologies and SoC (System on Chip) design.

"Realtek Singapore will employ another 75 skilled professionals, adding to Singapore's growing pool of IC design talent. The IoT and wireless communications solutions developed here will contribute strongly to the growth of Realtek, and to Singapore’s electronics industry."
