Epistar Acquires Forepi to Expand Production Capacity

TAIPEI, Taiwan-Epistar and Formosa Epitaxy (Forepi) announced jointly on Monday that Epistar would acquire Forepi via a share swap based on a ratio of 3.448 to have entire (100%) holdings in Forepi and Epistar will stay at the top 3 LED chipmaker.

Rider Chang, Epistar Vice President , said that the demand for LED lighting is soaring and this acquisition, through broadening advantages of patent and achieving technical complementarities, will expect to make benefit in one year.
Chang added that Epistar will issues new shares to exchange for Forepi shares, whose merged entity holding will be more thanNT$11 billion as well as 6,700 employees. Moreover, Forepi will exist and operate independently.
LEDinside research assistant manager Wu Ying Jie said that the volume of Epistar ‘s MOCVD will increase to 436 through acquisition, which is far ahead of other competitors, and raise highly its production capacity to 1200K pcs/M to complete this year's target of expansion.
