In addition, components manufacturers are also sparing no efforts in preparing stock of various components, including panels, cases, batteries, and carrier boards.
According to reports, Quanta and Inventec have obtained Apple Watch OEM manufacturing orders, and KINSUS has received orders for IC carrier boards. NANYA PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD CORPORATION will also provide supplies, while Delta Electronics will be responsible for supplying passive components. F-TPK will supply touch panels, and ACON and RICKTEK will separately supply connectors and power chips. TXC Corporation will supply quartz components.
Nevertheless, market analysts have vastly different opinions about Apple Watch sales.
Taiwan’s Market Intelligence and Consulting Institute (MIC) predicts that Apple Watch sales for next year may exceed 36 million units. However, the Topology Research Institute believes that next year Apple Watch will only sell 7 million units.
Market investors, however, believe that Apple Watch is Apple’s newest product and next year market testing will be crucial. It is not a great opportunity for large-scale sales. If the market reaction is positive, there will not be an obviously high output level until the second wave of production.
Currently the lowest retail price for the Apple Watch starts from US$349, which is significantly higher than the starting price of the average smartwatch, which is between US$200 and US$250.
