ELAN Benefited from Chromebook Despites Disappointing Touch NB

Due to the penetration rate of Touch Notebook was lower than expected, touch solution provider ELAN Microelectronics Corp. (ELAN) turns to foucs on the Chromebook market. The company expected that the shipments of Chromebook touchpad will jump to 6.5 million units, compared to 200 million units last year.
Elan said that the number of customers of Chromebook this year was increased to eight from two; in terms of models, ELAN obtained twelve of fifteen in the market, particular two U.S. customers they had failed to acquired orders.
As to the revenue forecast of fourth quarter, Elan estimated to decline to 4 percent to 9 percent, about NT$1.9 billion, gross margin in the 46 to 47 percent.
Looking to next year, in addition to the Chromebook, the analyst noted that Elan is going to mass produce optical fingerprint recognition product between the second and third quarter of 2015, it will benfit the growth of revenue.
