TAIPEI, Taiwan - According to Taiwan media reported, due to the high demands from Internet of Things(IoT), Internet of Vehicles(IoV) and wearable devices, coupled with no new capacity be created in recent years, the supply of NOR Flash memory is facing the shortage.

NOR Flash is one of the key components of IoT and IoV systems, many system companies and brands have contracted production capacity of which with DRAM manufactures recently. But the limited number of NOR Flash manufacturers keep the shortage problem raising.
NOR Falsh used to be a hot sale product in the past, but with the market focus shifted to mobile DRAM and NAND Flash, the number of suppliers of NOR Falsh was tremendous reduced. Currently, the main suppliers of NOR Falsh memory are Micron, Winbond and Macronix.
Taiwan's Winbond confirmed that NOR Flash has been out of stock in the first quarter, is expected the shortage problem will become more serious in the second quarter with the high requirements from IoT applications.
