AUO's OLED Migrating From Smartphones to Wearables

TAIPEI, Taiwan - AU Optronics(AUO) said in the Q1 investor conference today, that its OLED solutions are migrating from smartphones to wearable devices, the new circular 1.4-inch OLED panel will be available in the second quarter of this year.

AUO general manager Paul Peng said, AUO’s OLED solutions was mainly focused on smartphone display, but has gradually turned to wearable products. He pointed out that OLED has advantages of low power consumption and thinness, is ideally for wearable devices. And AUO’s OLED technology will focus on the wearable applications.

Peng stressed, AUO's 1.63-inch OLED panel has been shipped to customers in Q3 last year, the new 1.4-inch circular products will be launched in the second quarter of this year, and shipped to customers in China.

He said, because of the special cutting, the new 1.4-inch product was being inquired by many customers.
