Foxconn is Still the Solo iPhone 6 Plus ODM Partner

TAIPEI, Taiwan — The defect-free rate counts! It is widely circulated that due to the defect-free rate of Pegatron Co. is lower than expectations resulted in cancelled from Apple. It is said that Pegatron had taken 30 percent of ODM orders of iPhone 6 Plus, which would be failed to achieve. Therefore, Foxconn is still tied up the solo ODM partner of Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.

Both Foxconn and Pegatron withheld comments on it.
Allegedly, Pegatron had better its defect-free rate of assembly iPhone 6 last year, and came after Foxconn to be the second largest ODM partner of Apple’s iPhone 6.
At present, Foxconn has become the exclusive ODM partner of iPhone 6 Plus. However, Apple in an effort to eliminate the risk of its supply chain, Apple contacted Pegatron in a bid to become its ODM partner of assembly 30 percent iPhone 6 Plus.
According to Apple’s supply chain, Pegatron’s Kunshan and Shanghai firms did poorly in the pilot production of iPhone 6 Plus that led to Apple cancelled orders from Pegatron.
Pegatron’s investor conference of the second quarter also echoed the rumor. For example, the company’s revenue of non-computer products reduced 30 to 40 percent comparing to the same quarter last year. As well as its revenue in April decreased 9.8 percent comparing to March, which resulted from the less shipment of non-computer products.
