TAIPEI, Taiwan - Mainland Chinese brand name company Xiaomi will launch the 60-inch 4K Mi TV 3, priced at 4,999 RMB, which is just half the price of current 4K television prices. This is expected to kick off a 4K television price war and cause 4K television prices to slide further.

Xiaomi Launches Its Mi Laptop Air in Spain
Xiaomi, a Chinese brand for electronic products, released its Mi Laptop Air 13.3” at Palacio Neptuno in Madrid of Spain...
The new Mi TV 3 is equipped with a 60-inch LG 4K display as well as independent television sound and a full metal body. Internally, it features the MStar 6A928 4K television processor, which is currently the most highly functioning processor available.
2-3 years ago, 4K televisions were still considered high priced television products; however, with the development of new models by Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese companies, 4K television prices are rapidly declining. This is particularly true of Mainland Chinese brands which are causing 4K television companies to face an enormous price war.
Compared with last year, overall 4K television prices have declined approximately 15% to 20%. It is possible that Xiaomi’s unveiling of this ultra low-priced 4K television will further undermine market prices and cause the 4K television industry to sink into a low-priced competition market.
4K resolution is a new ultra high definition standard for digital televisions and computer video. The resolution in 4K televisions is four times higher than in FULL HD products; however, they also require 4K resolution content in order to take full advantage of 4K television image quality.
Currently in the Asia region 4K television shows are relatively common in South Korea and Japan; whereas in Mainland only 5% to 10% of television programs feature 4K signal quality and there are no 4K signal programs in Taiwan.
