Innolux: Tablets to Face a Largest Downward of About 25%

TAIPEI, Taiwan - The world's third-largest LCD panel supplier Innolux said today that the demand for LCD panels is slowing down due to the global economic slowdown. The shipments of Innolux is expected to have nearly double-digit decline in the fourth quarter of this year.

Innolux held its third quarter investor conference today, announced its third quarter financial report and make the prospect of the upcoming quarter.
Looking to the fourth quarter, Innolux said that including monitors, PCs and TVs panels will have high single-digit recession. Smartphones display panel will continue to grow, but the growth rate has sharply slowed.
Jyh-Chau Wang, President of Innolux, said, as the global economic growth slowdown, in addition to smartphones, the demand for all categories of LCD panels have obviously declined where the tablet PCs is going to face a largest downward of about 25%.
Wang pointed out that the Tablet PC display panel market will move toward polarization, there will be only the high-end and low-end, mid-range market will not exist.
In addition, Wang also noted that the demand for high-end smartphone LCD panels remain strong, the market is still in short supply.
