A Seven-Second Video Showing the Furious Foxconn Chairperson Gives his Staff a Lesson

TAIPEI, Taiwan — It's a perfect demonstration of entertaining an angel unawares. Screenshots taken from a video of the confrontation between Foxconn Chairperson Terry Gou and two staff he caught smoking at its Longhua factory in Shenzhen, which has gone viral after being posted on the Explosive Tell-All Community of Facebook on November 23.

Terry Gou, Chairperson of Foxconn, the Taiwanese electronics assembly manufacturer that is part of the Apple Inc. supplier. He was greeted with a rude reply when he told two employees to stop smoking at its Longhua facility, where is a non-smoking area, according to the whistle-blower of the Explosive Tell-All Community on Facebook.

The whistle-blower stated, “Lately (I) came across our Chairperson Terry Gou who was about to get something to eat near the B13 restaurant of the Longhua factory, where Gou bumped into two people who were smoking in a non-smoking area. Gou asked them to stub out their cigarettes, but they did not appear to recognize him by replying, ‘Who are you? It’s none of your business.’ ”

The whistle-blower cited that after the two employees appeared to use a foul-mouthed insult directed at the Chairperson, Gou quickly called Jacob Chen, Corporate Executive Vice-President at Foxconn Technology Group and President of innovating Dial System Business Group (iDSBG) of the company to come on the spot. “Therefore, the authorities started checking who smokes out of smoking zone in these days.”

Furthermore, the seven-second video that has gone viral showing the confrontation involving Foxconn’s Terry Gou who scolded, “If he (the manager) doesn’t fix you, then I will fix’ you. Foxconn doesn’t need staff like you.”

In fact, Foxconn’s largest factory worldwide is in Longhua, Shenzhen, where 450,000 of workers are employed at the Longhua Science and Technology Park, a walled campus sometimes referred to as “Foxconn City”.
