MediaTek at CES Announces New Chips for Smart Home, Wearables

TAIPEI, Taiwan - MediaTek at CES announced three types of new chips for UHD Blu-ray players, smart watches, and home IoT applications, which will begin to be mass produced in the early, middle and late parts of the year.

Aimed at smart home applications, MediaTek launched the MT7697 chip for use with all types of small smart devices and home electronics and which can be connected to tablet computers, smart phones, and cloud applications. They also feature high integration and ultra-low power consumption along with Wi-Fi support and low-powered blue tooth.

In addition, for the bullish audio-visual market, MediaTek has launched the MT8581 chip. It is the first type of High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology-supported 4K UHD Blu-ray player-specific System-on-Chip (SoC), and the clarity and resolution on the image display is significantly higher than that found in other similar products on the market.

The final smart watch MT2523 chip is the world’s first type of wearable chip platform with integrated dual-mode low power Bluetooth, GPS and high resolution MIPI display screen. It also features long-term endurance and a compact size.
