TAIPEI, Taiwan - Acer , the Taiwan's well-known PC maker, is accelerating its business transformation. The company is considering to split its current business units in order to create new business with full throttle.

Acer founder Stan Shih said yesterday that the board is considering the possibility of a new spin-off business, which will be announced by end of March this year.

Furthermore, Acer is actively in developing new business. Acer CEO Jason Chen today said that Acer is developing a new virtual reality (VR) product, which is expected to launch in the first half of this year. And he promised the product will be a eye-catching product.

Acer yesterday announced its January revenue of NT$15.8 billion, MoM decreased 29.7%, YoY decreased 30%, which was the lowest one in the nine months.
