OpenStack is the world's most widely deployed open source cloud construction software, and renowned companies, such as AT&T, IBM, Intel, Disney, and Wal-Mart all use Openstack as a cloud construction platform.

Tom Fifield, Community Manager at the OpenStack Foundation, said, in Taiwan over 1,800 people belong to the OpenStack user community, and it is both the fifteenth largest community in the world and extremely active. This is the main reason that the OpenStack Foundation selected Taiwan as the location for the first annual global hackathon.

This event will be jointly hosted by the OpenStack Foundation, the Taiwan OpenStack User Community, and Hackathon Taiwan with a “City of the Future” theme. Experts of all walks of life are invited to participate and collectively develop application software on the OpenStack cloud computing platform and seek out new exports for future urban transportation, environment, and business models.
