Eurofins Digital Testing is a media and device testing specialist and has been running certification services on set-top-boxes, iDTVs and other devices from its Hong Kong lab for several years.

The company is building on its existing extensive security testing expertise covering CI+, conditional access and DRM. The lab will provide certification and verification services to manufacturers licensing the Cinavia technology for devices such as Blu-ray Disc players, 4K Ultra-HD media players, and set-top-boxes.

Andy Hickman, CEO UK and Hong Kong commented that:“Our new partnership with Verance further cements our position in the media and device testing market worldwide as well as demonstrating our growing presence in Asia. It’s an exciting time for us.”

Nil Shah, Chairman and CEO from Verance Corporation said:”We approved Eurofins Digital Testing as a Cinavia testing lab based on their reputation of providing high quality service levels combined with excellent technical competence”, adding “we are also excited to be supporting our Cinavia licensees in Asia locally.”

Using Cinavia technology to identify and block unauthorised uses of Cinavia-protected content has been proven to significantly increase DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales.

By blocking unauthorised copies, Cinavia influences behavioral change in casual consumers of pirated movies, driven by ease and convenience, to purchase the content through legitimate channels.
