MediaTek’s Wearable SoC Adopted by Polar Electro, Taiwanese Media Says

TAIPEI, Taiwan – According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, MediaTek’s wearable Chips has adopted by Polar Electro, a manufacturer of sports training computers based in Kempele, Finland, and the new product is soon to be released.

MediaTek launched its first Google Android Wear enable single chip solution – MT2601, and Polar’s smart sport watch will be the first product equipped with this SoC solution.
MT2601 comprises 1.2 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU, ARM Mali-400 MP GPU, ePOP memory link and display controller that supports up to qHD resolution smoothly. It can interface with a range of external sensors.
Economic Daily News noted that Polar executives personally visited MediaTek’s booth at MWC last year. And after nearly two years collaborating, the first MediaTek-inside Polar sports watch is forthcoming entering the stage of mass production.
