Micron to Establish 3D DRAM Packaging Plant in Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan - According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, Micron Technology, Inc. has decided to establish their first overseas 3D DRAM memory packaging and testing plant in the Central Taiwan Science Park in Taichung, and Amkor’s former General Manager will serve as the Taiwan General Manager.

Because Micron’s purchase of Inotera Memories has come to an end, Micron has decided to hold a ceremony on December 20 marking Inotera’s incorporation into Micron. Micron CEO Mark Duncan will personally come to Taiwan to host the ceremony, and they are expected to announce their relevant personnel and investment distribution in Taiwan.
Economic Daily News pointed out that after Micron completed their purchase of Inotera, Inotera will be incorporated into Micron Memory Taiwan (MMT). In addition, following the purchase of Inotera, Taiwan has become Micron’s primary DRAM production area.
Micron will also establish a 3D DRAM packaging and testing plant in Central Taiwan Science Park, and they are in the process of preparing matters relating to land and equipment.
