Sharp Commits to Semiconductor and OLED Technologies

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Hon Hai Group Vice President and Sharp President Tai Jeng-wu yesterday sent his fifth open letter to Sharp employees. The letter stated that Sharp is undergoing significant changes and moving in a more active and practical direction. Moreover, in the future Sharp will continue to invest in semiconductor and OLED technological development.

Tai Jeng-wu in the letter mentioned that 2016 will soon come to an end and that Sharp and all of the employees had undergone major changes. During the past four months they have discussed and made decisions about up to 59 agenda items and have allowed the business sector to take on a more active role.
In addition, regarding Sharp's future development strategy, Tai Jeng-wu stated that the company's growth will be promoted from three major directions. For the organization, there are plans for the rewards and incentives system for younger employees to be expanded, and there will also be sales incentives. For innovation, the scope of collaborations with IoT companies will be deepened, and new business operations will involve entering the domains of semiconductors and OLED.
According to Japanese media reports, Sharp may turn a profit in the fourth quarter of this year, and this will be the first time in the past two years that Sharp's operations have been profitable.
