Taiwan's NAR Labs and Synopsys Sign LOI for AI Technology Cooperation

Ministry of Science and Technology, NAR Labs and Synopsys Technology signed a letter of intent for AI strategy alliance.

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan's National Applied Research Laboratories (NAR Labs) and semiconductor design and software company Synopsys, Inc. have signed a letter of intent for AI technology cooperation to carry out mutual collaborations on key Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.

Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Minister Liang-Gee Chen stated in a speech that MOST is promoting AI research with a “Small Country, Big Strategy” concept to create talent, technology, markets, and to construct an industry with an AI innovation ecosystem. Today's collaboration between NAR Labs and Synopsys makes up the monthly semiconductor design program and AI innovation research center portion of MOST's five major AI strategies.

Minister Liang-Gee Chen explained that Artificial Intelligence is already an unstoppable major global trend, and MOST has selected AI as a key axis for the next generation of technological development in Taiwan. An estimated NT$16 billion will be invested in AI during the next five years to gradually create an AI innovation ecosystem in Taiwan which includes everything from hardware to key technologies and software applications.

Synopsys has the world's leading semiconductor design software technology and IP solutions and is a long-term collaborator with the NAR Labs National Chip Implementation Center (CIC). The contents of the letter of intent for their current collaboration include a variety of key technologies, including an AI System on Chip (SoC) design platform, AI algorithm and engine development, and AI cloud computing and SoC model construction.
