Impacted by Trade War, Taiwanese OEM/ODMs Expand Scope of Overseas Manufacturing

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Impacted by the trade war, Taiwanese OEM/ODM manufacturers are responding by actively expanding the scope of their overseas production. For instance, Pegatron Corporation has added a plant in Indonesia, Wistron Corporation has added a factory in India, Compal Electronics, Inc. has expanded their factory in Vietnam, and Inventec Corporation’s layout is now in Taiwan, Malaysia, and Mexico.

Pegatron is spending US$300 million to expand the scope of their manufacturing base in Indonesia and anticipate that it will commence operations as soon as April of this year to undertake orders from brand-name smartphone companies.
